Keenagh Loop – Beginners
This trail at the edge of the Nephin wilderness gives the walker a real taste of isolation with beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes. Walking under Birreencorragh, part of the Nephin mountain range, the walker will enjoy walking by bog, rivers, farmland and the odd fairy tree. The walk is 11km with 250m ascent, with some stunning views of Mayo.
Ben Gorm- Intermediate
The view from Ben Gorm is one that every hiker/hillwalker should see in their lifetime. The range is located in the middle of Mweelrea, the Sheefrys, and the Party Mountains. It offers phenomenal views of Doolough Valley and Killary Fjord, to mention but a few. The walk is 10.5km with 785 ascent, some tricky terrain but well worth the effort.
Nephin Wilderness – Advanced
The Start & finish point for the Nephin Hike is the old forest shelter. From there we will travel 2 – 3km up the western way & hike up along the east side of the mountain. This side of Nephin is not too steep & and allows for some fantastic view of the area. As we pass the summit of Nephin Beg we will head down south west to Maumaretta & from there to Correen Beg before returning back along the western way to base.
